Composite Motors, Inc. manufactures Brushless DC motors and drivers in a wide range of sizes. Typical operating voltages range from 10VDC to 48VDC with power ranging from 100 watts to 12 HP and speeds up to 100k rpm for smaller motors. Brushless DC motors are a modern replacement for “brush and commutator” type motors. The brush types have service life issues because of brush and commutator wear. They also cannot readily be used in certain environments because of dust and sparks from the brushes. BLDC motors do not have these limitations. They have permanent magnet rotors and electronic commutation of stator currents. Brushless DC motors can also be operated at higher speeds. CMI motors can also generally operate at higher temperatures as well, and most have integral hermetically sealed drivers for operation in adverse environments. Brushless DC - BLDC motors and drivers are generally supplied as matched sets or as model number pairs known to be compatible. If you have a need to mix match motors and drivers or manufacturers, you should consult with our sales engineers before placing an order.
